I haven't forgot you.. The Chapman Family

As alot of you 'bloggers' out there, I started out with all good intentions about how I was to keep this extremely up to date.. well life doesn't always allow that! I've been very busy with work, buying cars (and then fixing them), and sorting out my big move. So more on that.. I'm moving back to Yorkshire this week - more specifically Sheffield - where I will be doing an NCTJ Pre-Entry to Photojournalism course. I'm hoping that this creates the avenues I want, and need, to break into the industry that I love.

Anyway this blog isn't about my life per se, it's about the photo's that I take. So without further ado, here are a selection from the recent Stockton Fringe Festival. The Chapman Family have been making big waves in the indie scene over the last year, propping up NME tours and creating a name for themselves with their absolutely-anything-goes sets.

Looking Back: The Credit Crunch

I'm currently pretty busy with my day-to-day jobs and so haven't had chance to take / edit any recent photo's. As such, here are a few from an earlier series in which I started to document the effect of the recession on my hometown, Stockton-on-Tees. Hopefully I will be have more to add to this photo story in the near future.

Infinity Bridge Opening

On Thursday 14th May 2009 the Infinity Bridge was officially opened in Stockton-on-Tees. Costing £15 million it represents further investment in the region and adds a striking link to previous North Shore developments. Entertainment was provided in the form of a fun fair, live commentary by TFM Radio, the 'Rhythm Train' band and a finale of fireworks and free running on the bridge itself.

Mens Health Week - Boxercise

During Men's Health Week two boxercise taster sessions were run by a great guy called Imran who runs a local gym under the name of 'Natural Progression'. With a wit even faster than his hands he ensured that everyone had a really enjoyable experience.

Last week I was asked to document the Council's various activities which were organised as part of the national Mens Health Week. The focus this year was on 'Access to Services' - Cardiovascular tests for men over the age of 40 were one of the services offered.

For my sister's 18th birthday one of her friends got her a hamster as a surprise present. Meet Coco (yes, as in Coco Chanel..), the most camera friendly pet you could ask for. This was her first photoshoot, I think she has a bright future.

Testing, one-two-one-two

So... this is finally the first post on a photo blog that i've been promising for longer than I care to admit.

For those that know me, hey! and for those that don't, please come on in :)

If you're the latter.. I'm a twenty two year old (twenty three in 4 weeks.. when did birthday's go from exciting to scary?!) photographer currently living in Teesside. Last year I graduated from Newcastle University with a BA Hons History degree, with my dissertation subject on 'The impact of photography on American public opinion during the Vietnam War'. Needless to say, i'm completely fascinated by photojournalism, especially the work eminating from conflict zones and long term documentary / social photography projects.

This blog is a means to me pushing myself to regularly post my latest work for you guys to see and to act as somewhat of a motivator for myself to get out there and pursue projects that i'm interested in. Hopefully that is what will make up the main body of the content on here, however, don't be surprised if there's random shots thrown around in there!

I hope you enjoy and follow the development of this blog.
